Barahir was the grandson of Faramir and Éowyn.[note 1]

History

Barahir wrote The Tale of Aragorn and Arwen at some point during the second century of the Fourth Age, after the death of King Aragorn II Elessar.[1] His work survived in abbreviated form in the Thain's Book.[1]

Etymology

Barahir is a Sindarin word and consists of bara ("fiery; eager") + hîr ("master, lord").[2]

Notes

  1. The only child of the couple recorded is Elboron and it is not known if they had other children; it is not clear if Barahir was the son of Elboron, or of an unrecorded sibling of his.
