The '''Balchoth''' ([[Sindarin]] for "Cruel horde") were a clan of [[Easterlings]] under the sway of [[Dol Guldur]], who lived in [[Rhovanion (region)|Rhovanion]], the lands southeast of the forest of [[Mirkwood]]. Traditionally, their leaders were friendly to [[Gondor]] ([[Eldacar (King of Gondor)|Eldacar]] even lived there, for a time, at the request of [[Rómendacil II]], his father). However, in 2510 the [[Third Age]], they attempted, with the assistance of [[Orcs]], an invasion of [[Calenardhon]], a minimally populated northern province of [[Gondor]]. After pushing back the northern Gondorian army, they were repulsed by [[Eorl]], who arrived with the [[Éothéod]], after receiving the plea of [[Cirion]] late. The Balchoth were no match for the horsemen of the Éothéod, and were hunted down and utterly destroyed. In gratitude of this feat, Cirion rewarded Eorl and his horsemen the province, which was renamed the [[Riddermark]], or [[Rohan]] as the citizens of Gondor called it.

They chose the evil side becuase of their never ending hatred to the [[Éothéod]],who were allied to [[Gondor]] by 1500 T.A.So by 2510 T.A pressured by [[Sauron]]they went and attacked Gondor from the north while goblins of misty mountains attcked from the west and Gondor wouldn't have survived the attacks if it weren't for the [[Éothéod]] now know as the [[Rohirrim]] who crushed the Balchoth.

The remaining Balcchots probably joined [[Sauron]] and [[Saruman]] and died out in the battle for [[Mirkwood]] and the attack on [[Hornburg]] where they were already a very small group and were mixed with men of [[Dunland]].
