Aragorn I (T.A. 2227 - 2327, died aged 100) was the son of Aravir, who succeeded his father to become the fifth Chieftain of the Dúnedain when his father died in 2319.
Life
Little is known of his reign as it was during the time of the Watchful Peace and few records have been kept of the Dúnedain of the North in this period of history. However, it is likely his rule was plagued with small battles to free the lands of evil, indeed Aragorn's life was cut short when he was killed by wild wolves in Eriador (which were always a peril in that land).
Aragorn I was killed in 2327, after having ruled as Chieftain for only eight years, and was succeeded by his son Araglas.
Etymology
Aragorn's name is Sindarin, and means "Revered King", from ara, a prefix for royalty, and gorn "revered". See also here.
