Whereas his brother became a gardner, Andwise continued the family trade, and founded the Roper Family.[1] He inherited the family ropewalk in Tighfield,[2][3] which he in turn left to his son Anson after his death.[1]

Etymology

The name comes from Old English andwīs which means "expert, skilful".[4]
