1 Yule was the last day in the Shire Calendar, marking the end of the year.[1] On a modern calendar, it would approximately correspond to 21 December. Due to the Shire-reform the Yuledays always fell on the same days of the week. 1 Yule was always a Highday (Friday).[2]
